Shioyazaki Light House and Misora Hibari Monument

This white lighthouse stands tall atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This lighthouse has been in use since 1890. It is open to public and is one of the popular tourist spots in Iwaki. Near the stairway leading upto the Lighthouse, there is a memorial dedicated to the late singer Hibari Misora who is regarded as the queen of Japanese pop. One of her songs was dedicated to the lighthouse and when we visited the Lighthouse,we could hear the song being played. We also saw a lot of visitors also place some flowers near the memorial.
